In Loving Memory of David Z. Starr, M.D. Founder of Starr Psychiatric Center, Inc.
Dr. Starr was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada and was very proud of his Canadian/Jewish heritage. He loved reading Albert Einstein and was a lifelong learner. His greatest love however was for his family – his wife Sharon and his two beautiful daughters – Melissa and Bayle.
Dr. Starr graduated from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in 1971 and was an Instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He entered into private practice in 1984 and opened Starr Psychiatric Center in 2006. He expanded the practice to include at least ten mental health professionals of all disciplines. He believed in a team approach to treating patients. One of his greatest strengths was his empathy and perseverance with the patients, at times using unconventional methods. Many patients were helped by Dr. Starr with his due diligence and innovative practice. May his legacy live on through the good works of Starr Psychiatric Center.
